About Us


This website has been created to honor the countless number of great basketball players that have graced the hardwood floor in the storied Proviso East Field House in Maywood, IL. Guided by legendary coaches Tom Millikin, Glenn Whittenberg, and William “Bill” Hitt, many of these athletes have gone on to enjoy very successful professional basketball careers on the collegiate level, in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as well as, abroad.  From the great Al Nuness (Univ. of Minnesota), Jim Brewer (Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers), Joe Ponsetto (De Paul University, Chicago Bulls), 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics Head Coach Glenn “Doc” Rivers (Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs), Reggie Jordan (Minnesota Timberwolves, L.A. Lakers), “The Three Amigos”, Donnie Boyce (Atlanta Hawks and current Proviso East Head Coach), Sherell Ford (Seattle SuperSonics) & 2007 NBA Champion Michael Finley (Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs), Steven Hunter (Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets), Daniel “Dee” Brown (Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards), Shannon Brown (2-time NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat), to Jacob Pullen (Kansas State Univ.), Sterling Brown (SMU), Keith Carter (Valparaiso), Paris Lee (Illinois State) and the recent 2014 graduate Jevon Carter (West Virginia), we hope to highlight these gifted athletes and coaches, while providing an insight into the immense talent that has walked the hallways at Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL. We aim to appeal to Proviso East fans, as well as, high school sports fanatics everywhere who appreciate great high school basketball programs.
